Your child will attend one (1) day a week. Class will meet five (5) weeks beginning January 10, 2017.

Lessons are Tuesdays from 3:30-5pm. Transportation to Hanson Hills will be provided by the Crawford AuSable School District. Parents: You are responsible for your child’s ride home at 5 p.m. If school is closed due to scheduled days or ½ days off, or inclement weather, ski lessons will be extended by one (1) week.
If there is a cancellation because of weather the school will be notified and your kids will be sent home as it is on their emergency card. WE WILL NOT BE CALLING EVERY PARENT. Weather cancellations are if actual temperatures are below 10 degrees at 11:00 am we will cancel. If wind chill is -10 degree or lower at 11:00 am we will cancel. If it is raining at 11:00 am we will cancel.
Entering its 23rd year, Winter Trails Day invites adults and children for a free Facilities Pass and cross country ski or snowshoe lesson, plus a complimentary hot cocoa and hot dog cookout on the ski trails.
Bring your friends and family for a fantastic day on the snow, and discover how fun winter in Northern Michigan can be!
Check-in is at 10:00am. Please make sure you are pre-registered. Check-in is followed by outfitting in rental snowshoes or XC skis for a reduced rate of $9 per adult and $6 per child. 10:30am: X-C Ski & Snowshoe group lesson. Learn the basics of cross country skiing and snowshoeing, including going up and down hills, and how to fall down and get back up! 11:30am: Ski out to Trappers Cabin for Hot Dogs, a bonfire and Hot Cocoa, all on the house.
After lunch at the Cabin, skiers and snowshoers will have the choice of exploring more trails, or heading back to XC Ski HQ. 5:30pm (or earlier): Skiers return from their tours and return snowshoes, boots, skis & poles. They are invited to relax in front of the fireplace in the Stone Turtle Day Lodge anytime throughout the day. *Space is limited for this event, and pre-registration is required. Free Beginner Ski Lesson
January 11 – Saturday 10:30am
Wednesday nights on January 13,20,27 and February 3,10,2016 between 5pm and 7pm at Hanson Hills Recreation Area. The lodge closes at 7pm so plan accordingly to have your time completed and recorded prior to the lodge being closed.

Free Beginner Ski Lesson
January 18 – Saturday 10:30am
Citizens Divisions – For those new to skiing, a 7.5 km course with both Skate and Classic categories. “Fun for All!!” Custom Gift to the first 250 entrants. There’s much to see here. So, take your time, look around, and learn all there is to know about us. We hope you enjoy our site and take a moment to drop us a line.
Stretch and Slide begins at 10:00am with a yoga class at the Gerrish Township Municipal Building (1 mile south of XC Ski HQ), and continues with a full day ski/snowshoe rental and group lesson at 11:45am (facilities pass included!).
Also included after the lesson is a homemade chili lunch (classic or vegetarian) at the Stone Turtle Day Lodge Café at Cross Country Ski Headquarters. Spend the rest of the day enjoying the serenity of the beautiful Michigan winter forests on the pristinely groomed Headquarters ski trails, or relaxing with a mug of hot cocoa by the Stone Turtle Day Lodge fireplace!
All are invited to participate, including novices to yoga, skiing or both. Over a $65 value for $45 ($35 if you have your own equipment).
There will be an opportunity to change from yoga clothes into ski clothes before the ski lesson, and XC Ski Headquarters has a great selection of ski clothing if you need to get outfitted before the lesson!

Free Beginner Ski Lesson
January 25 – Saturday 10:30am
Dust off your Lederhosen and join us for a taste of the Alps! Enjoy a gorgeous day of XC skiing on the HQ trail system, then test your strength at Masskrugstemmen, with stein-holding contests for men and women starting at 2:00pm.
Three people at a time can ski in unison atop our giant pair of “Team Skis” in the Team Ski Time Trials, beginning at 3:00pm, and we encourage all guests to dress in their best German attire for a costume contest at 4:00pm.
Special guest German Dave will be serving delicious Bavarian fare, including soft pretzels, sausages, sauerkraut, and of course, German beer. Don’t miss this celebration of heritage and winter fun!
Our first ever Around the World Wine and Ski Tour will showcase different wines from around the world along a beautifully groomed cross country ski trail! Venture out along the Blizzard trail on your XC skis or snowshoes, where wine tastings from Europe, South America, Australia and the US await you, along with complementary finger-food pairings. Create your own route, and get your Wine Passport stamped with each region you try!
